Artist Talk: Claude Tchamitchian

Double bass virtuoso Claude Tchamitchian will discuss his work In Spirit, dedicated to the legendary late bassist Jean-François Jenny-Clark. At the beginning of the interview, he will perform an excerpt from the piece on Jenny-Clark’s own double bass.

Tchamitchian will also reflect on his long history with Finland, closely intertwined with producer Charles Gil’s Vapaat äänet tours, which began 30 years ago. He took part in the very first tour in November 1996 as a member of trombonist Yves Robert’s quartet, which also appeared at that year’s Tampere Jazz Happening.
