Yrjö Award
Finnish Jazz Federation’s Yrjö Award, the most notable recognition given to jazz musicians in Finland, will be awarded already for the 12th time at the Tampere Jazz Happening.
The event will also see the Taimi Award presented for the third time to a young musician who has developed their musical expression with passion, paving the way for the future of jazz music. With the award, Finnish Jazz Federation wants to encourage young musicians to seek their own voice and showcase it.
In addition, the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle will hand out their own Varjo-Yrjö Award (“Shadow Yrjö”) for the promotion of jazz culture in Finland.
The event culminates in a performance by the 2025 Yrjö Award winner. Pictured are last year’s winner Antti Lötjönen and Jazz Federation’s representatives Maria Silvennoinen, Valtteri Pokela and Petteri Klintrup.
